MESSAGE FROM PMA Head of School, MR. TAYLOR, BA (English) MEd (Curriculum)

Welcome to Phoenix Magnet Academy, a school where we teach both leadership and followership, where we do far more than prepare our students for university. We prepare them for life before, during and long after university! 

No one leads all the time, and all the best leaders in life learn how and when to follow others before they undertake the responsibilities of clear, compassionate leadership. Therefore, at PMA we teach both Leadership and Followership to enhance overall student leadership abilities.

At PMA our classes are small, and our teachers are student-focused in both planning and delivery of the new British Columbia Ministry of Education Curriculum. With the assistance of our Experiential Education Staff and our Academic Counselling Staff, our Academic Team integrates authentic and appropriate activities inside and outside the classroom: activities that respect the diversity and engage the interests of our PMA students. 

The students at PMA value learning, adventure and personal growth. PMA students and their families understand the importance of integrity and respect. Our students want to be mindful, courageous and goal-oriented. PMA students and families are curious, inclusive and open to discovery about themselves, people, cultures, new activities and the natural world.

I am very proud to lead the team at PMA, as we instill our students with integrity, curiosity, confidence and a transformational appreciation of our world’s diverse cultures, environments, and opportunities. PMA seeks out and celebrates the passions of our students, as staff and students explore and learn together – through a deliberately and carefully curated combination of classwork, individual study, group work and collaborative experiential education in the world-renowned Squamish Valley.
