Grade 8 to Grade 12

At PMA experiential education is an integral part of our education system. We believe that almost all learning can and should be connected to a concrete experience. The quality of that learning is escalated when students can really see where the knowledge can be applied. On top of better comprehension of the subject matter, experience focused programming builds soft skills such as leadership, resilience communication and teamwork, creating well rounded students who are prepared for life’s challenges. Below is an overview of the many experiences your young adult will participate in while at PMA.

Trips for Junior Students

Sample Grade 8 and 9 trip - may include Grades 10-12:

In grade 8 and students will do some experiential learning trips. These may be from a week to three weeks, and may be as close as northern British or as far away as Quebec or Ontario. The learning for such trips is cross curricular - covering English, Science, Social studies, Physical Education and more throughout the program. Each trip will have a heavy focus on cultural competence and will include a novel study relevant to the program, an outdoor expedition, visiting historical sights and meeting local people.

Additionally, we have almost daily outdoor programming including: survival skills, biking, climbing, hiking, skiing/snowboarding and more.

Rocky Mountains Cultural Road Trip (BC to Alberta, by bus or by air and bus)

Build your own canoe paddle program: in the spring of 2022 PMA students built their own Indigenous style wooden paddles (under the expert guidance of gyauustees, a local Indigenous elder); then they used the paddle during our end of year ocean canoe camping trip near Sechelt, BC.
